It is time for the 11th annual Dog Days Wine Tour! Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 15 for this event sponsored by Silver Wheels Cycling Club here in Lorain County. And if you did not guess from the name of this tour you will bike to a winery, sip some wine, bike to another winery, sip some wine, bike, sip, bike, sip, bike some more, sip some more and in the end eat but you can snack along the way too!
Now you can choose the distance you want to bike. The shortest distance is the 37 – 45 mile trek which will be marked with green wine bottles. The 65 mile trek is marked with orange wine bottles, and the longest distance of 100 – 125 miles is marked with white wine bottles. Now which distance will you choose?!
The tour begins in LaGrange, just 6.9 miles and 10 minutes from Hallauer House Bed & Breakfast but the actual finalized routes will not be posted to their Dog Days Facebook page until July 10. The wineries on the tour are Matus Winey on Gore Orphanage Rd south off of US 20, Vermilion Valley Vineyards 11005 Gore Orphanage Rd north, the Redhead Ciderhouse 8019 OH-113, Berlin Heights and Jilbert Winery 1496 Columbia Rd, Valley City. The two closest to Hallauer House are Matus and Vermilion Valley.
The short rides begin between 9 and 10:00 A.M. but the longer distance riders take off between 7:00 and 7:30 A.M. The tour begins and ends at LaGrange Lions Park where there will also be what sounds like a fabulous cookout! Lots more information can be found on the Dog Days website.
So what are you waiting for?! Sign up! Get some exercise! Enjoy some fine wine! Meet some new friends! And give us a call to book a room. We had a cancellation in the Confederate Room for the weekend of July 14 and 15. What could be better than going on a long bike ride and then coming back to Hallauer House B & B to soak your tired body in the hot tub and then take a relaxing swim in the pool. I mean life cannot get much better than that!
