What To Do in Oberlin

Have you often wondered what there might be to do if I visit Oberlin? It’s a small town so you might think coming here would be boring. Wrong! There is one big weekend coming up not just here in Oberlin but for other communities in Lorain, County.

August 3 – Upstairs/Downstairs Tour Oberlin Heritage Center :tells the story of the town and the college in 1830-1930

August 5 – I Spy Oberlin Tour Oberlin Heritage for children 5 – 11 and parent to hunt for hidden oddities and markers.
Freedom’s Friends: Underground Railroad & Abolitionist History Walk – Oberlin Heritage – 90 minute walkingtour of Oberlin                    neighborhoods with stories of freedom seekers.
One Step More – Oberlin Women’s History Walk Oberlin Heritage with stories of women who shaped the future

August 4 –Oberlin College Admission Open House – take a tour, attend panel sessions, sample a meal on campus, and                                                meet  staff, students, and faculty.

August 4 – 7 – Tall Ships Lorain: Tour the Nina and Pinta Tall Ships docked at Black River Landing.

August 5 – Lorain Waterfront History Excursion – a 2-hour history boat tour of beaches, river, & wildlife                                                                           preserves in Lorain.

August 5 – Dancing on Main – A Rock – n- Roll festival in Amherst with local bands performing on closed streets.

August 5 – Family Fun Fair – Oberlin – Classic cars, vendors, games, sales, fun, bands, raffles, and more!

August 6 – Frank Lloyd Wright House – Oberlin – Tour of the house built by the famous architect in 1949.

Now you see that there are things going on for all ages and all interests.Come for one and stay for all! And if you need more time to see it all you can always call Hallauer House to see if we have a room available. Relax in the pool and hot tub at the end of a perfectly fun day!
