India Garden, one of our fine dining restaurants here in Oberlin, was our restaurant of choice for our night out at the theater. This past Friday, as mentioned in the previous post, when we went to the Oberlin Summer Theater Festival to see the production of “The Miracle Worker” we went to India Garden for dinner, our first visit since they opened last fall. I wish we had gone much sooner! The interior is beautiful and the service quick.
We arrived around 6:00 on a Friday evening and could tell that a thunder storm was brewing in the west. We were seated by the window and served our beverages right away. We ordered iced tea which was flavored and I regret I did not ask what flavor as it was delicious! They are trying very hard to get a liquor license but have to collect signatures of residents in their district and get it on the ballot to be voted on, an Ohio archaic law! But we were told that you can bring wine or beer in to enjoy with your meal.
Our food arrived just as the thunder storm hit. So Joe, who had the Chicken Marsala and I, who had the Fish Curry with Salmon enjoyed our delicious food as we watched the rain pour down all the while wondering how we were going to make it from the restaurant to the theater without getting soaked as we had parked half way between the two venues!
As luck would have it by the time we left the restaurant the rain had started to let up so we just got a little wet, not soaked!
The India Garden Restaurant is definitely a place you will want to eat at when you come to Oberlin, just one of our 14 restaurants so plan to stay a few days and enjoy all the great food!
